Additionally, knowing what the plant needs depending on their growth will definitely help in adjusting. For example, vegetative crops and young seeds generally need higher humidity levels. Therefore, when your plants are in this stage, the humidity level is high and should be changed when the plants enter the flowering stage.
As stated above, humidity levels should be maintained at the proper level depending on the growth of the plant. Having the wrong level on a specific cycle can choke the plant which hinders growth and will ultimately affect your yield. Automated machinery are used to spray mist together with evaporating coolers to deliver the needed change of humidity in the room.
Using artificial light is also one of the most common practices that big greenhouses include in their operations. These lights can prolong the day and night cycles for the plant in order to “trick” them into growing into the way that is desirable. As stated above, using lights will affect the temperature of the room so that should be taken into consideration during their operation. Nowadays, farmers are starting to use LED lights as it can deliver better supplementary lighting because it can position in a way that can penetrate the canopy of the crop.
Supplementing Carbon Dioxide is also employed by these big greenhouses. As you can imagine, being in an enclosure can deprive the area of needed Carbon Dioxide. To remedy this, there exist ventilation systems or they supplement carbon dioxide directly in the enclosure. Additionally, having higher levels of CO2 has been proven to increase the growth and yield of the plant.
